YOUTH IN ACTION

Folcloric Dolls

It is the moment to join a YOUTH IN ACTION project!!!

We are parteners in the frame of Youth in Action Programme in a  transnational project called “Folcloric Dolls” with parteners from Ankara  from Yansi Group. We join them because this will be an opportunity for us to interact with other cultures and other people. This interaction helped us very much in developing  projects and also to see this world in another light. We are all the same but history , culture and our way of thinking is the different…..We are glad to join this project!!!

At the end of January , our parteners will come in Romania to implement this project  and to make some educational activities, workshops, experimental working, exchange of experience, discussions and the most interesting – group works and trips!!!

We will learn them how to make “Maramuresan Dolls” with the help of our Informational and Educational Centre from Firiza where they will have the necessary support to make their activity and in February will be our turn to go in Ankara. 4 youths and one lider will have the opportunity to meet with different cultures and join their activity there.

The project will be an international level platform “so, one main opportunity will be various cultures, different languages, different experiences”- said our partenet from YANSI GROUP, TURKEY.

Join our cultures

Our “Join our cultures” project  included 37 youths and leaders from Romania –Asociatia MANSIO, Spain (Asociacion Grupo Scout Kolonia de B.P 347 ) and Turkye (Gal European Project Youth Organization) that made cultural activities  at Mansio NGO (in Firiza, a small village near Baia Mare) between 03.08.2009 and 09.08.2009 . We made the project in order to bring youths from three different countries to discuss and share their cultures and thoughts about youths problems and their rights. Participants had an appropriate vision regarding the discrimination phenomen – as a global phenomen, breaking down ethnic, cultural and linguistic barriers and also learned about human rights and had funny time (movie, travelling to touristic place, night dance).

The theme of our project was culture and social movements that’s why we tried to build bridges of peace, justice, and understanding through personal encounters through this project
In this project they needed to create and follow meeting agendas, keep discussions focused and not meandering, identify and obtain resources the team needs, develop clear shared goals and outcomes and timelines. They needed to figure out work flow, information sharing, tasks and schedules.
But the elements that so often doom a team to mediocrity or failure are the personal ones that stem from poor relationships. Games that we all played help meet these challenges by connecting youths  in ways that don’t typically happen in the regular workplace setting.

We also try to help participants realize that they can make a tangible difference in the world, now –and that this process
can be exhilarating, exciting, creative, and fun
Intercultural learning has been the basis for the youth work and co-operation. It is also one of the bases of global education and human rights education. Intercultural learning, as one of the bases for dialogue, co-operation and solidarity, has far-reaching methodological, social and educational aims that are of utmost importance in the shaping of mutual perceptions.
Through intercultural learning they saw that they have not only many other similarities, but also cultural differences. Through games and disscusions they  learned to respect each other, improve their sence of tolerance and got possitive impressions about each others’ culture.
The impact was great! We try to involve again our youths from Firiza  and Baia Mare  like in our last projects. The stuff from Petre Dulfu Library from Baia Mare found out about our project and they suggested us to make a project for their grant programme in order to help us to make an informational centre in our location and to gave us books and IT equipment  for our comunity interests and they will also give us  informational materials for youths. They also helped us with this project in order our youths to talk with their friends from other countries that visit our village.
Through this exchange , youths had unique opportunities to learn the value of teamwork and build critical thinking skills while completing service project areas such as education, public safety and the environment. Students who participated in such programs as YOUTH IN ACTION  demonstrate increased civic and social responsibility and improved educational achievement.
Bring awareness to the fact that no matter where you live, humans all share common hopes, dreams, challenges, and desires. Learning about the world was fun and exciting!

Let's meet share and integrate

The project took place in Firiza, which is a village near Baia Mare. This was a bilateral exchange in which Mansio NGO host the parteners from Turkey “The Photography Club of Solhan’s Vocational and Technical Education Centre”, Yeni Mahalle, no.5, postcode 12700, The Middle East Anatolia, BINGOL. e-mail: 907012@meb.gov.tr.
19 youths, 9 youths from Romania+ 1 leader and 8 youths from Turkey +1 leader were involved in this project. The aim was to gather youth from different countries, religion and cultures in Romania and give them an opportunity to live the same atmosphere, share ideas, experiences in order to form international understanding and friendship by dialogue. We also want to establish EU Citizenship concept on youth by showing them the harmony that different cultures can have when they are living togetherThe project has a clear aim and that is to contribute to the personal development of the youngsters, as well as to the self-knowledge of its capacities, interests and abilities in a different context that it offers new opportunities of interaction. We thought that Turkey was the best partner for this project, because it has an extremely interesting culture and civilization, and we want to prove the fact that even if people may seem so different, harmony and understanding can be obtained
Objectives of our project were:
- a unique opportunity for romanian youths  to meet other youths with different education, different religion and different way of thinking
- to make easier the cooperation betwen those two countries
Main theme was intercultural education.
Most af our activities were based on intercultural dialogue, and as activities we made indoor games, outdoor games, workshops, free discusions about those two countries, traditions, religion, treaps near our location, visit historical museums from Historical Maramures, traditional meals, traditional dances, art crafts, intrcultural days, visiting different NGO’s from Maramures, preparing an album with places that we visit and with all participants, photography exchibition, evaluations.
Target group: 18 youths from Romania and Turkey and 2 liders from each country, who assured and coordinated both the activities and the interactions between the two groups.
Activities: workshops, discussions, sport competitions, games, art exhibition, European picnic, intercultural evening, Turkish night, Romanian night, tours and free time, visit other NGO’s from Maramures.

At the end of the project participants from Turkey put together all photos and a short summary of their trip, the discussions, information about the most important institutions – including the active NGO’s from Maramures, and with all those information they made an album with pictures taken in Historical Maramures.

The Shadow of Music

The project was implemented between 18.08.2008 – 25.08.2008 by MANSIO and Gumuspala Anatolian Highschool European Union Youth Organization
(7165sk No 14 Nafiz Gurman mah Gumuspala- karsiyaka Izmir, Aegean Region, Izmir )  in our location from Firiza in order to provide a place in which all 32  young participants involved in the project were able to develop their  social, cultural and educational needs.
We wanted to prepare them for the  opportunities, responsabilities and experiences that may encounter in their future lives.
We  made this project in order to improve social skills, increase ability to stereo-typing pressures, to improve musical skills, to develop positive self- image and confidence encouraging full and active participation through the planning of the programme and gaining understanding of team work and groups decizion making.
The project took place in Firiza, a small village near Baia Mare City, Maramures, Romania. It was a bilateral exchange  in which  16 youths  from Romania and 16 youths from Turkey were involved in 7 days of  all kind of activities.
The aim of the project was to offer  the young people from Maramures and Izmir a safe environment for social , cultural,  and educational opportunities in a  non-threatening way, to develop musical skills and give them confidence involving them in a cultural activity in both in-door and out-door activities like: workshops, concerts, team work, teambuildings, treaps.
